This consultation was organized to simultaneously address agrobiodiversity conservation and gender concerns. Asian country experiences from Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Nepal, the Philippines and Thailand served as inputs to the discussions are compiled in the report. Key outputs included: 1) strategies to strengthen institutional partnerships among government, research organizations and non-governmental organizations, and communities to assist rural women in their role as agro-biodoversity managers for food security; and 2) recommendations for future research, policy and program development to improve the contribution to and participation of rural women in the conservation and improvement of agrobiodiversity in the Asian Region. |
