Flor, A.G.  2002.  Ethnovideography: Video-based Indigenous Knowledge Systems.   SEAMEO-SEARCA and CIP-UPWARD, Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines.  94 p.  ISBN: 971-560-080-8

This is a publication that aims to instruct readers on using ethnovideography – a participatory methodology of using small-format video in the study of people, communities, groups, or sub-groups. Ethnovideography was developed by the author based on an earlier CIP-UPWARD project on indigenous knowledge systems in sweetpotato agriculture, and subsequently through research efforts of the Knowledge Management Program (KMP) of the SEAMEO Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).

Ethnovideography seeks to support broader efforts in knowledge management (KM). As the book explained, knowledge management is not exclusively concerned with contemporary, cutting-edge knowledge applied to solve current problems. It likewise covers indigenous knowledge that signifies the wisdom of earlier generations and local knowledge that represents the innate common sense of the farmer, the fisherfolk, and the housewife. Knowledge management seeks ways on how scientific and indigenous knowledge may be stored, shared, and re-used – in other words, maximized – through information and communication technologies.  Ethnovideography is one tool for achieving this goal.
